About this Webinar:
In 2023, the WHO African Region accounted for 24 percent of global TB cases. While incidence and mortality have declined by 24 percent and 42 percent, respectively, barriers to timely diagnosis persist in many communities.
AI-supported chest X-ray screening is addressing these barriers, particularly in settings with limited access to radiologists and laboratory infrastructure.
This webinar will examine the application of AI-enabled TB screening in Niger, Guinea, and Chad. Speakers from each national TB program will share operational insights from the field, covering outreach strategies, implementation challenges, and impact.
Our keynote speakers:
- “Mass tuberculosis screening in vulnerable groups using X-ray with CAD in the city of Niamey” by Dr Soumana Alphazazi, Pulmonologist and Phthisiologist; National Coordinator of the National Tuberculosis Control Program in Niger and National Consultant for the Union within the framework of the CETA project in Niger.
- “Facilitating computer-assisted reading of chest X-rays for tuberculosis screening at the Macenta Regional Hospital Center, Republic of Guinea: Presentation of clinical cases” by Dr. Jean Hébélamou, Deputy Director General, CHRS Macenta, Guinea.
- “Artificial intelligence for tuberculosis screening in Chad: Challenges, opportunities, and impact” by Dr. Oumar Abdelhadi, Coordinating Physician of the National Tuberculosis Control Program, Chad
