Yemen continues to face a high tuberculosis burden amid ongoing conflict and a strained health system. In 2023, an estimated 19,000 people developed TB, while nearly 8,000 people remained undiagnosed or unreported. The country recorded around 3,700 TB-related deaths and 276 people missing with drug-resistant TB. Co-infection with HIV and TB remains a challenge, with 140 estimated cases in 2023.
We have collaborated closely with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to support multiple health projects across the Middle East, including in Yemen. In 2021, as part of the Middle East Response (MER), we delivered 7 Delft Light X-ray systems, each equipped with the CAD4TB, to support rapid screening and triage of TB in settings where access to diagnostic infrastructure is limited.
