Burkina Faso continues to grapple with a high TB burden despite ongoing efforts to strengthen detection and treatment.
With a population of approximately 23.03 million, in 2023, an estimated 9,800 people developed TB. While 830 people died from the disease, the health system missed 1,133 people with TB. To close these gaps, we deployed 2 Delft Light systems in 2022, along with installation, training, and full support. In 2024, we added 2 CAD4TB to the Ministry of Health to further strengthen TB screening in the country.

Webinar insights
During the 2025 Delft Imaging webinar “From Crisis to Care: Implementing TB Screening Programs in Challenging Operating Environments,” Dr. Saïdou Gnanou, Medical Specialist in Public Health and National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) Coordinator for Burkina Faso, shared insights into the country’s strategy for active tuberculosis (TB) case finding using mobile digital radiography and artificial intelligence (AI). To strengthen TB detection in challenging settings, Burkina Faso’s NTP has deployed mobile digital X-ray units with AI-enabled CAD4TB. Between September 2024 and April 2025, 1,730 individuals were screened, resulting in 61 TB diagnoses. “Our radiographic campaigns for active tuberculosis case finding have made a significant contribution to case detection, particularly in recent years,” said Dr. Gnanou. These innovations are improving access for high-risk groups, including children and individuals in detention centers. Rewatch the session on our YouTube channel.
