In Eastern Europe, Moldova has made steady strides in TB detection, but gaps remain. In 2023, 2,300 people developed tuberculosis, and 200 people died from the disease. The country also contended with drug-resistant TB, affecting an estimated 820 individuals, and a smaller yet significant group facing TB-HIV co-infection.
We marked our presence in 2021 by introducing the CAD4TB to the country. The same year, three additional sites, Penitentiary No. 16, the Pruncul commune, and the Phthisipneumology Institute “Chiril Draganiuc,” adopted a CAD4TB each, reinforcing Moldova’s push to modernize its screening and triage capabilities.
